Conference Canceled
Dear NSAWS attendees,
Due to the impending storm expected to reach Boston tomorrow afternoon, we have decided to cancel the symposium. We apologize greatly for this inconvenience but in light of the inclement weather, we did not want to jeopardize anyone's safety and after hearing that many speakers would be unable to attend due to travel problems caused by the storm, we thought it would be best to cancel the conference. We appreciate your interest in attending as we had amazing speakers that were very excited to share their knowledge, expertise, experience, and personal insights with you to foster the community of women pursuing careers in science. We hope to either reschedule the conference for later this year or early next year. We will notify you with any news related to this. Again we apologize for having to cancel the symposium but we hope you continue your interest in NSAWS for future events and continue connecting with other women in science.
Best regards,
Jen, Olivia, and Barr

About
NSAWS biannually brings together college, high school, and professional scientists from Harvard and the surrounding Boston community to participate in talks and workshops, where they can benefit from hearing the perspective and wisdom of today’s prominent leaders in science. By gathering both experiences and young scientists in one place and enabling them to actively participate in career – and research – based discussions together, we hope that the 2013 NSAWS will inspire young women scientists to continue their work in the sciences and lend their own strengths and talents to future scientific endeavors.
Mission
Specifically, through a series of featured speakers, panel discussion, and small group workshops, the 2013 NSAWS seeks:
• To highlight provoking academic and medical scientific research conducted by the country’s leading women scientists
• To proactively develop strategies to recruit, retain, and advance women in the sciences
• To explore and discuss the impact of women scientists on economics, politics, and the practice of science
• To promote awareness and understanding of the issues that women in science currently face.
With these goals in mind, we hope to bring together a diverse group of scientists engaged in modern research and industry on topics ranging from AIDS and cancer to global warming and the development of new technologies. We are targeting all ages, backgrounds, and education levels!
